Additional Costs: Each volunteer pays a one time fee of $25usd which includes roundtrip transportation by taxi and boat to La Tortuga Feliz from Bataan . Details of transport from San Jose to Bataan by bus on the 1st day of your reservation is included in the confirmation email that you will receive when you reserve and costs around $5usd each way.
35 Nights Plus: This option exists for volunteers who wish to take a more active role in the operational support of La Tortuga Feliz and includes a higher responsibility in addition to regular turtle volunteering. Duties could include some or all of the following: Completion and managing of volunteer's/guides schedules, Arrival introduction, induction and training of new volunteers, hatchery organisation, administration and supervision, supervision of daily volunteer operational tasks, communicating new information to volunteers and local guides, animal care, boat cleaning and basic project maintenance. An organised, mature approach and the ability to communicate in Spanish are essen tial for this option. It is recommended that you initially make a reservation for 35 nights. A shorter reservation gives you and the project an opportunity to checkout your suitability for a longer commitment. Long-term volunteering at La Tortuga Feliz may appear an attractive option but sometimes the reality can be very different. Factors to consider include: Basic living conditions. No social life. Long periods of being out of touch with family and friends. Leaving Costa Rica every 90 days for 72 hours to comply with visa renewal requirements. High turnover of volunteers sharing your dormitory. An open, mature personality is essential. If after completing your 35 night reservation you still wish to make a long-term commitment and we are happy to accept you, we can sit down and organise adjusting costs.
Double Cabin: Couples who wish to have more privacy whilst volunteering have an option of lodging in a double cabin with private bathroom. There is limited availability and interested couples are asked in the first instance to check cabin availability for their dates.Required stay is a minimum 14 nights.
